Hard-wired smoke alarms—when was the last time you tested yours? Did they work?

Smoke alarms have a use-by date, typically around 10 years. These old hard-wired alarms were both non-functional on the test button and past their prime. We replaced them with new Aico alarms featuring built-in lithium batteries.

Now the client has reliable, up-to-date smoke alarms. If you need your smoke alarms replaced or want new hard-wired models installed, feel free to get in touch!

Efficient Downlight Installation During Kitchen Refurb

Fitting downlights for a kitchen refurb today. The ceiling was removed to allow for the wiring, which might sound drastic, but it’s actually a more efficient approach. It contains all the work and mess in one area, eliminating the need to lift carpets, move furniture, or damage floors from above.

This method also makes it easier to locate joists and accurately position the downlights. I use flow click plugs for the downlights, allowing me to complete both the first and second fix without having to leave the circuit isolated.

Design Solution: Ensuring Proper Socket Installation

No problems, just solutions at G’s Electrical! Today, we encountered a design clash, but we found a solution. To prevent damage to the cord or flex cable when a plug is inserted, we ensured there was adequate space under the socket. Problem solved!
